Sustainability Campus Service Team

Sustainability Campus Service Team     Step one: pick cucumbers Each student and staff member signs up to be part of a campus community service team that meets once a week to take care of various tasks that need to be carried out regularly on campus. Students and staff particularly interested in promoting and organizing stewardship and sustainability projects sign up for the Sustainability Campus Service Team. Step two: pickle cucumbers Team members schedule and carry out a variety of duties each week: collecting old batteries from recycling bins in each residence house; planning energy use competitions for students; creating signage for recycling containers; picking up cloth shopping bags in each residence house and returning them to their central storage area; hauling kitchen waste to the compost pile; harvesting and processing autumn vegetables from the community garden; maintaining the campus garden; filling birdfeeders around campus; tapping maple trees, boiling down the sap, and bottling the syrup; caring for the bees and extracting honey; and other tasks as they arise.
